LEE COUNTY ANNUAL WATER NOTICE – ROUTINE PRECAUTIONARY NOTICE
MAY 1, 2018 – JUNE 7, 2018
NOTICE FROM LEE COUNTY UTILITIES (LCU):
Lee County will be temporarily converting its disinfectant process from chloramines to free chlorine residual from May 1, 2018 through May 29, 2018. This is a routine measure that is common for water utilities using chloramines as its primary disinfectant. Customers may notice a temporary change in the taste, odor, and color of the water, which is not harmful.
Even though the conversion of disinfection will end on May 29th it will take approximately one week for the service area to be converted from a free chlorine residual to a chloramines residual.
Anyone who uses a kidney dialysis machine at home should contact his or her equipment supplier so the proper filtering equipment may be installed. Tropical fish or aquatic animal owners should contact a local tropical fish store for appropriate pre-treatment of water before adding water to tanks.
Again, this is a routine precautionary measure to ensure our customers of clean & safe potable water. If you have any questions pertaining to this process or notice, please contact Lee County during regular business hours, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday at 239-533-8845 or toll free at 1-800-485-0214.
